Week 7: The Law is Perfected in Love

Reading and Affirmation for February

From the book The Beatitudes: Their Inner Meaning by Swami Kriyananda

What is it to be Comforted?

Rays of One Light: Weekly Commentaries on the Bible and The Bhagavad Gita

In the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 1, we read:

The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

In the eighteenth Chapter of that great scripture he says:

Nay! but once more Take My last word, My utmost meaning have!  Precious thou art to Me; right well beloved!  Listen! I tell thee for thy comfort this. Give Me thy heart! adore Me! serve Me! cling In faith and love and reverence to Me!  So shalt thou come to Me! I promise true, For thou art sweet to Me! And let go those— Rites and writ duties Fly to me alone! Make Me thy single refuge! I will free Thy soul from all its sins! Be of good cheer!

Excerpts from Week 7: The Law is Perfected in Love

Whispers From Eternity

133. Demand for Quickening Activity

Let the waves of Thy power dance on the river of my activity. As Thou art intelligently busy making atoms, flowers, universes, so teach me to be cheerfully busy always. Thou art ever busy yet eternally smiling in joyous hearts. Bless me, that I may wear Thy unfading smile as I work in the factory of life.

What inspired me from this week’s reading from the Rays of One Light to share with everyone was…

Nay! but once more Take My last word, My utmost meaning have! We will take these words from the eighteenth Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita into our meditation together for reflection. But firstly we will listen to the Psalm of David sung by Mary Kretzmann.
